Spring Lake and WaterFire

We went to Spring Lake today and Anthony had his first venture into water outside a bathtub! Anthony LOVED it! He took a minute to get used to the water, it was pretty warm though so it wasn't long. He went in a couple times with me and Matt and even took a nap under his shader on the beach.

Here are some of the pictures we took:

Tonight we also went to WaterFire in downtown Providence. During the summer, the city runs this attraction on the river: volunteers play music and light piles of wood in the middle of the river on fire. It's very pretty and it attracts a lot of tourists (as well as local residents and vendors) and is a lot of fun. We brought Anthony tonight and he really enjoyed the fire and music! He was really good despite the large crowds and being up late!

Reaching and Rubbing

Anthony has started using his hands more purposefully lately. He reaches for mine and Matt's faces when we change him or play with him. He also reaches for the hanging toys on his play mat. He's also begun rubbing his eyes when he gets tired, which is the cutest thing I've seen! And he has been nomming on his hands (as Matt and I call it) on purpose rather than instinctively or because that's where they ended up. He's growing so fast and I love seeing him develop, I just don't want it to go too fast.

Smiling

Anthony has started smiling! For the past couple days he's been smiling purposefully at Matt and I. He also grins for his grandparents and aunts and uncle when we see them.

Recently he's also started smiling at one of his toys. We have a play mat that has a sun/star attached at the top. Whenever we lay him underneath it, he gets a big grin on his face!

I love seeing him happy! He's a few of his smiles that I've captured:

Father's Day 2014

Happy Father's Day to my wonderful husband, and Anthony's amazing dad, Matt! We are both so blessed to have this man in our lives and we love him very much!

We made Matt two presents; first a goody basket filled with his favorite things (we also made them for my dad and Matt's):

It included: 3 craft beers, Smartfood, a Reese's, a Twix,
peanuts, Big League Chew, and a bottle of BBQ sauce

And we made him a framed poem with Anthony's footprints:

For Anthony's godfather, Nick, we got him a card and a mix-a-six pack of beer!

6 Weeks

Today was my 6 week post-delivery appointment. It was short and sweet; my doctor checked me internally (before realizing I had a C-section) and then checked my incision. Everything looked good and she put in my prescription for my birth control. I'm going to pick it up soon, but don't need to start it until I've started my first period. I got weighed and have lost about 20ish pounds since having Anthony. Now that I've waited a good amount of time, though, I can start doing more exercise. Now I just need to figure out what that exercise will be...

And because no post is complete without an Anthony picture, here is our mommy-baby selfie:
